Psychodynamic Breathwork
Bridging Psychology, Spirit, and Self-Discovery
Psychodynamic Breathwork is a powerful and transformative practice that weaves together the foundational insights of psychology’s earliest pioneers with the enduring wisdom of spiritual truth. This unique method is grounded in the life’s work of Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Alfred Adler -- three visionaries whose original ideas continue to shape how we understand the human psyche.

At the core of their work lies a shared belief: that our adult lives are profoundly influenced by unconscious patterns formed in early childhood. Freud emphasized the importance of bringing these unconscious drives to light, especially those stemming from unresolved experiences, repressed memories, and internal conflicts. He saw that healing begins when we become conscious of what has been hidden in the shadows of our mind.

Carl Jung expanded on this by introducing the concept of the shadow self—the parts of us we disown, deny, or fear. Jung believed that true transformation comes not from escaping our darkness but by turning toward it with compassion and integrating it into our wholeness. His approach to depth psychology invites us to reclaim lost aspects of our self and live with greater authenticity.

Alfred Adler introduced the idea that our behavior is rooted in a deep striving for significance and belonging, shaped by the early roles we assumed in our family system. His pioneering work in family dynamics revealed how childhood experiences influence our sense of identity, self-worth, and relationship patterns well into adulthood.

While many modern practitioners have built upon and expanded these ideas, I believe in returning to the source -- to the originators of these rich psychological traditions. Their groundbreaking insights offer a depth and purity that can get diluted over time. Psychodynamic Breathwork honors this original wisdom, integrating it with the healing principles of A Course in Miracles. This metaphysical spiritual path invites us to awaken from fear, release guilt, and remember our true nature as loving, peaceful beings.
Together, these streams form a comprehensive and holistic path -- one that heals not only the mind and emotions but also the spirit.

Psychodynamic Breathwork offers far more than just relaxation -- it is a gateway to profound personal transformation. By consciously breathing in a guided and intentional way, we access deep layers of the unconscious, allowing old emotional wounds to surface and be lovingly released.
Whether our pain comes from childhood trauma, relationship losses, divorce, rejection, or lingering anxiety, the breath gives us a powerful tool to unearth and dissolve what no longer serves us. As these burdens begin to lift, we experience greater clarity, emotional balance, and a renewed sense of purpose.

One of the most beautiful gifts of this work is the deep self-acceptance it fosters. We begin to embrace every part of ourselves -- even the pieces we once pushed away. In doing so, we rediscover the inner harmony that’s been waiting for us all along. Relationships become more honest and fulfilling. Our direction in life becomes clearer. We feel called to show up more fully -- for ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities.

Even our physical health improves. As tension releases and the nervous system resets, we sleep better, stress less, and feel more alive in our bodies.
What a session looks like:
A typical Psychodynamic Breathwork session lasts 60 to 90 minutes. You’ll lie comfortably on your back -- on a floor, sofa, or bed -- fully clothed and supported by blankets or cushions. Your breath facilitator will gently guide you through various breathing rhythms and intensities, tailored to your emotional and physical needs.

As the breathwork unfolds, memories, emotions, or sensations may arise. These are not random -- they are doorways into deeper healing. With skilled, compassionate support, you’ll be invited to stay present, to trust the process, and to allow the breath to do its sacred work.

The experience can be intense, but it is also profoundly liberating. Many people describe feeling as though they've shed emotional armor that’s been weighing them down for years.
The Healing Power of Psychodynamic Breathwork
Psychodynamic Breathwork is effective because it speaks to both the conscious and unconscious mind. It addresses the root causes of our suffering, not just the symptoms. By integrating the psychological frameworks of Freud, Jung, and Adler with the spiritual path outlined in A Course in Miracles, this approach encompasses the full spectrum of human experience, including mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual aspects.

The breath becomes a bridge between body and soul, intellect and intuition, past and present. Through conscious breathing, we access the body’s innate capacity to heal itself. Trauma that once seemed frozen begins to thaw. Outdated beliefs begin to unravel. New patterns—healthier, more empowering ones—begin to take root.

This is not a temporary fix. It is lasting transformation. With each breath, we awaken more fully to who we truly are—whole, worthy, and free.
